Hey all

some ppl asking me how to play dflw/df2 on windows vista. I'm not sure but i found this solution at www.novaworld.com forums for joint operations and i thing it might work for dflw/df2:

Quote:

To play jo (dflw, df2) with vista you must right click your jo/dflw/df2 icon and click run as adminastrater. Took me 4 hours to find this solution but it does work.

I'm not sure if this works cuz i don't have vista myself it's up to you to try it Very Happy

if you keep getting 'joining session' when you click any server please download the joining session path from downloads->patches

I asked novalogic about this problem and this is what they said (and it seems to work):

Quote:

Try right clicking on the shortcut for the game (create one if you don't already have a shortcut) and selecting Properties. On the properties page select "Compatibility" at the top. On this page Check the "Compatibility Mode" box and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2). This should get the game working for you.

Due to the fact that this game was created long before Vista was created it is not a fully supported OS for the game. If this does not correct your issue there is very little we are able to do to offer support.

Also check the "joining session" problem in windows xp:

some ppl say this doesn't work Sad a second solution to this problem is using virtual PC:

1) what exact problem you have?
2) Try turning of firewalls, check security settings,...

ok, i got a laptop with vista on it
i cant get df favs to even reconise lw
i managed to get on to a server once by bypassing novaworld
The first few times i tried it got stuck on joing game, then it worked once, now it wont work again.

Have tried running it in xp, 2000, and 98 mode none worked.

Have tried with all firewalls off and secruity setting etc.

Greatful for your time.

did you try DF pinger or quick pinger?
if you could join once you should be able to play in vista maybe it's just some problem with the lobby. Where exactly does it get stuck? at the black screen that says 'joining game' or at 'joining session'?

If it's still not working you should try virtual PC 2007 or application toolkit 5.0 this enables you to start windows XP / 98 while working with windows vista. I didn't try it but it seems a great tool.

Hello, Tom

I ran into the same problem with "joining session"

Difference is, I have WinXP SP2. Everything worked fine until "smth" happened.

I turned off firewall & antivirus [removed them from start up list], Set all policies to green light [allow all] in firewall settings. Tried all kinds of things with firewall. As a test I tried to join any server [TS, LTW, STH] with no luck. I see the lobby, but...

I have uninstalled the game & redownloaded it again. Again, no result. Should I downoad Virtual PC too?

Hope hearing from you & once more thank you 4 bringing the game baq
